Flashes of Serenity

Hi Girls! Have any of you gotten a phone call from a woman named Elaine Miller? She said she lives in Rome and is interested in speaking at my MOPS group. She has written a book called "Flashes of Serenity". Anyone heard of her or maybe had her speak to your group? She also has a website.....www.flashesofserenity.com. I'm reluctant to bring a stranger in to speak at one of my meetings....

Finances speaker

Hey ladies! Christy had asked about a speaker on finances and I referred her to my financial advisor, Lou Gonzales. He's a Christian and wonderful. After talking to him some more, I realize that he's absolutely perfect for coming in to a MOPS meeting. He not only does talks on personal finances but he also does special talks for expectant parents at Babies R' Us and has taught Cub Scout classes (giving the kids paper money, teaching them stewardship...etc.) So he'd also be a great speaker on how parents can teach their kids (wisely) about money. So if anyone needs to fill in any holes or wants ideas for next year, give him a call or email him. His number is 256-2737 and his email is legonz@twcny.rr.com. I plan on using him next year. Wish I would have thought of him sooner but my schedule is full already.... Hope all is going well with everyone!

magnets

Hey Cory. Helen was going to look into it... I think she was going to buy the magnetic paper from Office Max or Staples. I think we are going the laminating route with TEEN MOPS (buying the magnetic roll from a craft store to stick on the back). I will ask her today what she found out from her search. Anyone else???
PS~ The pool party for the TEEN MOPS girls was really fun. xoxo We got our heads on straight with a successful S.T. meeting afterward. I'm heading over to Helens today so we can sort thru T.M. supplies and create our Welcome Bags. Love you all, praying for you too. You are some amazing Coordinators... God is def going to do some powerful works in your groups and in Mommies lives. What an adventure! xoxo

MOPS magnets

Hey girls! Does anyone have any info on the magnetic paper for MOPS date magnets that we talked about at the meeting? Is it something you can buy at Staples, do you get them printed there, or can you do it on a home computer?

Ice Breakers

Heya! Kara, I love that idea with the scale... terrify everyone then have some fun! A couple of my favorites are Candy Concentration and a hoola hoop contest. The hoola hoop is hilarious! If anyone is interested in details on the Candy Concentration let me know... its always a winner. I will send that via email... its easier. Also remember to go on the MOPS leaders website and look under forums. Sometimes I get ideas for ice-breakers from there. AND that little booklet that was in your packets at the Coordinators Get Together entitled 'Adventure Guide' had a few ideas. :) I will re-send Tricia's agenda. Have a great day! Fall is almost here... yea! xoxo

MOPS outline

So I know Annie sent out an email with one groups outline for meetings for the year...BUT I deleted it! So...I would really like some input as to what you girls are doing this year....icebreakers and such. Lets start posting those! Oh I do have one I got from a fellow Coordinator in Rochester: Bring in a scale and say that things really change as we become mommies (they will think they will be weighed) BUT have each of them weigh their purses. You can turn it into the circus game of guessing the weight and the one who is closest gets a prize. ~Kara
Thank you so much for your prayers. God really did move through this.

Helen did you have your Pool party for the girls, how did it go?

Welcome to the 21st century!

Hi Ladies! Wow, I'm totally out of my element, but I think this might be fun! Kara, thanks for setting this up and forcing me to use the computer for more than e-mail. :) Heather, I was sorry to read about your grandmother - I'll keep your family in my prayers. Can't wait to see you all again at Fall Council! ~Amy (am I an official blogger now??)

Remember the good ole days of pen and paper?

Hey girls! Finally figured this whole blog thing out - I'm no rocket scientist when it comes to all things computer related. So you can pray for me.....MOPS coordinating requires lots o' computer work and my husband is going to get sick of the questions pretty soon :) Blessings- Cory

This is so exciting! Great job setting this up for us, Kara! I missed seeing all of you on Friday, but I heard you had a great time together! I'm already looking forward to Fall Council! Good idea on the overnight!!! Our group (New Hope, Oneida) has finally gotten our meeting schedule together! YAY! Now it's getting the welcome bags together, collecting donated items for door prizes, and decorating. Also, we are putting together a handbook for our moms...any suggestions???

Hello everyone. I've managed to set up my Google account....and now I've just figured out that publishing a post and making a comment are two different things.

So as I mentioned in my comment, thanks to Kara for setting this up. It is going to be a awesome resource for our Council!

Thanks for getting this up and set Kara!

If I could ask you all to also keep my family in your prayers, my grandmother passed this morning. She was a very important part of this family and my girls are going to have a hard time with the news.

Thank you.
Oh and the website that Andrea was talking about for craft ideas is http://www.whimsy-girl.blogspot.com/

8/15/08 meeting minutes

Hey there, MOPS Coordinators! What a great meeting we had last night! Isnt Kara most amazing for setting this up for us... and so quickly!?! Heather, thanks again for hosting with the mosting. You are a blessing. I did send out an email today on the MOPS link for business cards http://www.mops.org/page.php?pageid=1831&srctype=email&src=1756 I hope that helps and you can all take advantage of that. Reminders: Fall Council is Nov 1st (place TBA-shortly!), feel free to think about pulling an overnighter with your team in a local hotel, since CV is a no for so many this year. I will send out reminders 6 mo in advance next year to approach your chartering church for assistance. Always let your chartering church know how your group is doing! I will be in touch with Kara & Crossroads as CV approaches. FYI: I did send in my Council Report with questions on Rome & NSBC membership issues. Here is the link for Whimsy Love, the site that Andrea from Crossroads loves, great ideas for MOPS: http://www.whimsy-girl.blogspot.com/ Remember to keep TEEN MOPS in front of your Classic MOPS group... Helen Turley TCC: helenturley@verizon.net & #699.5232. There were 9 of us in attendance from 6 CNY South MOPS Council - yea! Our offering to MI was quite hefty. :) Keep in prayer: Coordinator for Camillus, Star with her loss of her step-grandmother & helping her mother in this time, Alethea continued healing, Rome S.T. fully committed. God bless you all as you serve the King of Kings in this amazing ministry ~ MOPS! Annie

Lets get this started

Hey girls! It was great to get together with you all last night. I came away feeling pumped for this next year with the, "I can do it" attitude. Just so you know...you will all have to create a google account in order to post. I gave all of you permission to post so it shouldn't be an issue. If you are having issues, email me at brooker18@hotmail.com. I will try my best to figure it out. You can also leave comments on other people's posts. Lets start this by having you all give a "count" of who is here. Leave a comment in regards to this blog just saying you have successfully signed in! Again...looking forward to hearing from you all. Kara
